4/2/2010: PRISON, BIGAMY, LIES, SANTA ... ALL AT F4
Highlights of this year's F4 (Feb 23 – 25, Mercury Theatre, Adelaide), Australia’s only film festival dedicated to documentary, include the Australian premieres of The Farm: 10 Down directed by Oscar-nominated Jonathan Stack from the US; UK director Brian Hill’s latest film The Bigamist Bride: My Five Husbands; and a preview screening of Gillian Armstrong’s Love, Lust & Lies – the fifth film in the documentary series about three ordinary working-class Adelaide girls since they were fourteen in 1976.
Also in the program is World Champion Snata: every year hundreds of Santas from around the world converge on the North Pole to take part in the highly competitive Santa Winter Games. Reindeer racing, chimney climbing and porridge eating are just a few of the hilarious events that these Santas are competing in for the highly coveted gold medal. This year the Australian contingency consisted of one unexpected entrant, a self-confessed bad boy, Dave Downey, who made this film.
